Sample Statement

Dear (Senator's name):

I'm not sure if you are aware but the world - including the United States - is running out of fresh water. Just this year National Geographic published an article outlining the very real threat facing America's domestic freshwater basins with more than one third facing some degree of depletion as early as next year.

As a member of the Colorado state legislature, the decisions made and bills put forward/supported by your office have the power to drastically impact the world. For better or worse.

As such, on behalf of myself as member of your constituency, as well as every other water-consuming entity on earth, I am writing to urge you to commit yourself and your campaign to the conservation of the world's dwindling freshwater supplies.

It's time to stop thinking about profits and start thinking about posterity.

Thank you for your time.

Best Regards,

(Name)
