Common Sense Water-Conservation
Thinking Ahead For Posterity's Sake
At CSWC our philosophy is simple: people > profit. As an independent advocacy website, we are dedicated to delivering sound facts about, and potential solutions for, the world's growing water crisis.
The issue can seem overwhelming, but history has shown that the power of collective will knows no bounds when the people are informed.
That's where we come in.
A World Without Water
The facts are clear, the world's fresh water is running out. Fast. By 2050 more than 4.5 billion people (nearly half the Earth's population) will be facing extreme water scarcity (Mann, 2019, p.12). This growing issue is one to take note of as climate change induced heatwaves and droughts are expected to continue decimating existing supplies as we continue our plunge into the next decade (UNICEF, 2020, para. 1).
The result of such conditions is expected to create a devastating paradox as an affected region's ability to respond to the consequences of water scarcity are subsequently crippled by the social and political instability that often accompany the presence of the issue itself (Werrell & Femia, 2018, para. 2).
For many of us, this issue may seem far off (temporally and geographically). After all, most people simply have to turn the faucet, and never have to pay any mind to how that water gets there, or how much might be left. But the bliss of ignorance can only be enjoyed for so long as it quickly dissipates when confronted by the bitter taste of turmoil. And make no mistake, turmoil is coming.
